MASSAGE

The term “massage” is known by almost everyone throughout the world today, and yet its therapeutic method and definition vary to a great extent.  The very basic techniques, however, are almost always common, and they include such techniques as rubbing, kneading, and percussions.

There probably is no solid proof, written or not, but the basic therapeutic principle of massage probably existed since humans began to exist.  The reason being, massage in itself is based on a very instinctive part of human nature.  Applying one’s hand to a painful spot on the body, pressing and rubbing a tight muscle, rubbing and moving a cold hand or foot are all acts we more than likely have performed sometime in our lives, without ever being taught to do so from anyone.  Then naturally, the chances are, the first humans on earth must have been performing such acts as well, being aware or not, of the fact that they were using techniques of what would later become to be called “massage”.

Although massage techniques are instinctive and therefore primitive, they are the basic core of perhaps all therapeutic arts, and massage is a very effective, if not the most effective, form of therapy.  From the modern anatomical and physiological viewpoint, at the very least, massage works positively on the muscular, circulatory, and skeletal systems, skin surface, and even to the psychological level.  Massage will loosen the tension of muscles and increase blood circulation, allow the skeletal joints to increase its range of motion, enhance the metabolism of the skin, and one can quite frequently feel mental stress relief after a massage therapy session, which is a psychological effect of massage.

The question arises, what makes the difference between a professional massage therapist and a common person performing massage, if massage is so instinctive and is more likely to have been performed by everyone and since long time ago?

Here at ENERGY ROOM, we put maximum emphasis on “accurately identifying the tension and effectively loosening them”.  Therefore, it is not the case that all the clients will be receiving the same-patterned routine of massage.  Each and every client’s body is different, and the location of their tensions are different.  Even on the body of a particular client, the left side and the right side of the same body are almost never identical.   Therefore, it is only natural that we do not necessarily perform the exact same massage techniques on the right side of a client’s body as the left side.  Our one and only objective, is to accurately find the tension that one may not even be aware it existed, and apply a massage technique that is as effective as massage can be.

Such is the essence of the massage therapy performed here at ENERGY ROOM!
